The number of tourists visiting Thailand increased from 35.35 million in 2017 to 38.28 million in 2018. Tourism plays an ever more important role in the Thai economy. Bangkok, Thailand's capital, is a famous tourism spot which is full of unique historical and cultural significance. Apart from tourists, Bangkok itself has a population of over 8 million. Hence, it is undoubtedly the shopping malls industry in Bangkok has already been very competitive despite Bangkok is also well-known as shopping paradise.

However, the fierce competition does not merely exist among shopping malls, thanks to the revolution of technology. Shopping malls which are used to be defined as “one or more buildings forming a complex of shops representing merchandisers, with interconnected walkways enabling visitors to walk from unit to unit" is no longer good enough to be passive places to buy stuff.
